"Helpful advising... just not always super fast"
Overall, I’ve had a good experience with student advising at oregonstate.edu. My advisor helped me figure out which classes to take and explained what I still needed for my major in a way that actually made sense. The only downside was that sometimes it took a few days to get a reply, which was a little stressful when registration was coming up!! Still, when they did respond, they answered my questions clearly. Not perfect, but it definitely made planning out school a lot easier for me.

"Pretty good research opportunities, from what I’ve seen"
From my experience, Oregon State seems to have some solid research opportunities, even for undergrads. I can’t speak for every department or professor, but the ones I’ve interacted with were open to helping if you actually reached out. Some of the paperwork and process stuff can move kind of slowly, which is a little annoying, but overall it’s been a good place to get involved

"Helpful admins, just a little slow at times"
I had to reach out to Oregon State about my records and a registration issue, and overall the staff were helpful. They got back to me in a reasonable amount of time and made it clear what I needed to send in, if that makes sense.

One response did take a few days longer than I was hoping for, which was a little frustrating, but once they replied everything got sorted out fine. Not a perfect experience, but the support was solid and they were easy enough to work with.

"Tuition felt fair"
I liked that Oregon State laid out the tuition and fees clearly. It wasn’t cheap, but for the classes and support I got, it felt reasonable. I didn’t run into any big billing surprises either, which made it easier to deal with...

"Campus life wasn’t really what I expected"
I didn’t enjoy the campus life that much. When I first got there, I think around late August or maybe early September, I expected weekends to have more going on, but they usually felt empty. It was also hard to meet people unless you already knew a group or were super outgoing. There were events here and there, but a lot of them were either kind of boring or I only heard about them after they happened. I’m sure some students had a better experience, but for me it felt lonely and not all that welcoming.

"The admissions process was so confusing??"
I had a hard time figuring out what was going on with the admissions process. The steps weren’t clear, and I kept feeling like I was missing something?? It ended up being way more confusing than I expected.

"Something feels off with this site"
I tried using the site, but it was a total mess. I couldn’t find anything I needed, and after clicking around for a while, I started wondering if the whole thing was even set up properly or if something weird was going on.

"Decent campus food, but nothing special"
The dining on campus is okay overall. I’ve had better food at other schools I’ve visited, so I wouldn’t say it’s amazing, but it gets the job done when you need a quick meal between classes.

"I had a mixed experience overall. A few..."
I had a mixed experience overall. A few professors were genuinely great and made the classes interesting, but a lot of the courses felt outdated and not very clearly organized. It was also frustrating trying to get help sometimes because the email responses felt like they were coming from robots instead of actual people. I just wish things felt a bit more consistent and personal.

"Online classes were frustrating"
A friend recommended I try these online classes, so I was hopeful going in, but the experience felt really messy. The videos kept lagging, support took a while to respond, and a lot of the classes were confusing to follow. I wanted to like it, but it just didn’t feel very smooth overall...

I was happy with the dorms. The place was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a good stay.

"Financial aid help took about too long"
I reached out for help with financial aid, but it took around way too long to get a reply. When I finally heard back, the answers were kind of confusing, so I still wasn’t really sure what to do next.

"Pretty let down by my experience"
I really wanted to end up liking Oregon State, but my time there was disappointing. I got the feeling often that I was just another name in the system, and whenever I tried to get help from advising or different offices, it felt like everything took forever.
There were definitely a few professors I liked, but the support overall was really inconsistent. Maybe I’m reading into it, but the tone from a lot of staff made it seem like students were more of an inconvenience than a priority. For the amount students are paying, I expected better communication and a lot more care, so I personally wouldn’t recommend it based on my experience.

"Career help was decent, but am I missing something?"
I used Oregon State’s career services to get some help with my resume and interview prep, and overall it was fine. The advisor was friendly, they pointed out a few things I hadn’t noticed, and the job board had some listings that were actually worth checking out.
That said, it took longer than I expected to get an appointment, and some of the advice felt broad. Maybe I’m missing something, but I was expecting a little more personalized guidance. Not a bad experience, just kind of okay.

"Pretty much what I expected"
For the most part, it feels safe enough during the day, which is kind of what I figured going in. At night, though, it can feel a little sketchy, and that just confirms what I already suspected about the area. Nothing major has happened to me, but I still stay more alert after dark.

"Pretty welcoming overall"
Overall, I’ve found it to be a welcoming place, and I do appreciate the effort being made around diversity. That said, there are still moments where inclusion doesn’t feel fully consistent, and some gaps show up in day-to-day interactions. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

"Better than I expected from the professors"
I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but the professors ended up being one of the best parts. They clearly know what they’re talking about, and they explain things in a way that doesn’t make you feel lost or stupid for asking questions. A lot of them also had real-world experience, which made the classes feel way more practical than I expected, not just reading straight from a textbook.

"Couldn’t get into the classes I actually needed"
I’m not trying to be dramatic, but the classes I needed were always full by the time I tried to register. It was really frustrating because I was just trying to stay on track, and it felt like there weren’t enough spots available.
